The FURminator~money well spent

No it's not a bad spoof of The Terminator! It's a deshedding tool used on pets. The FURminator is a bit pricey, around $25 for the small to $45 or more for the large tool but in my opinion so far it's been worth every penny! We just recently purchased this item and bought the smaller one for $49.99 (priced higher in store than online!) for our short hair dog (lab mix).

He has a terrible shedding problem and even brushing him on a daily basis does not get rid of the excess undercoating. He would still have huge tufts sticking out that you could literally pull out with your fingers. We have to vacuum and swiffer on a daily basis or we are over run with dog hair. We used the Furminator for the first time yesterday and WOW what a huge difference it made. There were no extra tufts of fur left and he looked so pretty after we got done.

We also noticed a difference in his behavior while using a regular dog brush and the Furminator, he would try to run away with a regular dog brush. However with the Furminator he just laid there and let us brush him out.

So what exactly does that Furminator do? Here is info copied from the PetSmart Website:

"Reduces shedding up to 90%! Removes undercoat and loose hair without sacrificing healthy top coat. The stainless steel edge deShedding Tool does not cut hair, it just gently pulls out the fluffy undercoat, leaving the topcoat shiny and undamaged. Leaves coat shiny and shed-free.
The patented design helps stop shedding where it begins in the undercoat to dramatically reduce the mess and clean up of unwanted pet hair. Helps create a shed-less environment by reducing the amount of dander and hair, making it the ideal tool for allergy sufferers. Designed for use on both long and short-haired pets.

The tool will work on all shedding dogs and even on some traditionally "hair-cut-only" dogs, like Terriers and Spaniels to coarsen the coat and blend clipper tracks. A few breeds that are typically not good candidates for the FURminator Shed-Less Treatment are Poodles, Shih Tzus, Maltese, Bichons, Portuguese Water Dogs, and Irish Water Spaniels.
For best results, use in conjunction with FURminator deShedding Shampoo and FURminator deShedding Solution (both sold separately)."

Current rating on PetSmart site: 4.9 stars out of 5! 98% of the customers said they would recommend this product to their friends.

We did purchase the waterless shampoo and conditioner to assist with the deshedding because my dog hates water and baths are difficult to give. I highly recommend trying this product out if you have an animal who sheds alot. Though the price is high it has proved to be worth it and if the sticker price still bugs you check on ebay!

Yep we did, but I would call and price check and compare prices online. You may get a new one on ebay cheaper too.
